The Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority (VPPSA) is reducing the frequency of the Mixed Paper program to once a month as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The April 2021 collection and all collections going forward will be the first week of each month. Your current service day (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) will remain the same.
The Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority (VPPSA) is a regional governmental organization dedicated to providing solid waste management services to its member communities which are:
- The Counties of:
- James City
- King and Queen
- King William
- The Cities of:
VPPSA operates the transfer station and convenience center in Mathews County as part of an integrated regional solid waste management system which also includes the Counties of Essex, King and Queen, King William, and Middlesex.
These operating rules have been developed in conjunction with representatives of Mathews County and provide the guidelines for use of the facilities in the County.
These operating rules may change without notice to improve service to the citizens of Mathews County or if required to comply with local, state or federal rules and regulations. Any exceptions to these operating rules must be authorized by the VPPSA Executive Director.

Residents, small businesses, and property owners of Mathews County are approved to use the transfer station and convenience center subject to limitations and restrictions described in the following sections.
The convenience center is designed as drive-through facilities to maximize convenience to users with small loads.

The safety of facility users and VPPSA employees is of prime importance and operating rules have been developed with this consideration.
