Supervisor Hudgins stated that he read that a NextGen system is not recommended for commercial use, especially restaurant use, and asked why this is the proposed system. He requested to see the engineers report. Chairman Rowe stated that all reports have been submitted to the health department, they have reviewed it and have authorized the County to move forward with the application. He reminded the Board that this will eliminate the pump and haul situation. MOTION: On Motion of Amy Dubois, seconded by Melissa Mason, the Mathews County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2-0 as follows: Michael Rowe, Melissa Mason, Amy Dubois - aye; Paul Hudgins, Jackie Ingram - nay; to approve the permit application submitted to the Virginia Department of Health for the repair to the Hole in the Wall septic system, as presented. Chairman Rowe stated that the reason for moving forward with the permit is to stop the pump and haul. Supervisor Ingram stated that she was told by the NextGen professional that this system is not acceptable. Chairman Rowe stated that it is a new system and is currently experimental in the US. Vice Chair Mason asked for clarification. Mrs. Conner confirmed that an engineer has to stamp the application/report and noted that the Health Department is permitting this an experimental system in the state of Virginia.
