Mathews County will hold a public hearing on a resolution requesting that the Virginia Department of Transportation establish a Transportation Alternatives set-aside project that requires a financial commitment. The hearing will be at 6 PM on Tuesday September 26, 2023, in the Mathews County Historic Courthouse, 27 Court Street, Mathews, Virginia 23109. The proposed project is to extend an existing sidewalk approximately 400’ the northwest along the south side of Buckley Hall Rd., add a cross walk across Buckley Hall Rd. in front of Mathews County High School, and add approximately 400’ of sidewalk heading northwest.
The public may attend the hearing and state their views on the proposed resolution subject to reasonable time limits established by the Board of Supervisors. Written comments are accepted by mail prior to the meeting or email sent to jknighton@mathewscountyva.gov, no later than 12:00 NOON on Monday. September 25, 2023. Copies of the resolution are available for review in the County Administrators office, Room 101 (First Floor), County Administrator’s Building, 50 Brickbat Road, Mathews, VA 23109 and on the County website at mathewscountyva.gov.
